Miguel's hazel green eyes scan the fields slowly, taking in the gold of the crop. Bright yellow stalks of wheat dance lightly in the breeze. Miguel, however has a different type of crop. He's not sure what he wants yet -- but he's not picky. Wheat just wouldn't work because he can't eat it raw. Well, maybe he could; he's not really sure. Miguel just can't afford to get sick if he tries and it isn't edible. As his eyes hover over the long rows of fields, he sees something promising. Corn. His stomach growls softly, catching his attention momentarily, before he starts his walk towards it.
You'd think he'd be a bit more cautious. What kind of robber walks nonchalantly to their prize? Actually, Miguel doesn't really like the term robber. Or thief. He prefers conman. Thief and robber make him sound like some sort of bad guy. He doesn't think he's a bad guy. Just a guy trying to survive. Besides, surely one cob of corn won't put this farm out of business. From what he's heard, they do fairly well business-wise; which makes sense, considering they're probably the biggest farm on the island.
When he reaches the corn, he snakes through a few of stalks, trying to find a smaller cob. Despite being someone who's used to taking things that aren't his, he hasn't managed to get thicker skin since he started. He still feels a little bit guilty every time, wondering about the people he's making life harder for. That's one of the reasons he likes taking from bigger companies rather than specific people. With the many fields full of vegetables the Native Farms have, it's much more difficult to imagine the owners being much worse off.
Miguel examines the corn quickly, finally seeming to realize that people may possibly be working the farm. What if he got caught? It hasn't happened yet; but he's usually not very careful. He purses his lips to one side of his mouth in thought before plucking a single cob from the top of it's vibrant green stalk. Unable to wait much longer, he quickly shucks it, peeling the green from the brightly coloured veggie. He digs in, trying to quickly eat without being caught.
