Personality~
At first glance, Izumi seems very cold and distant. At second glance you might see a layer of playfulness. He loves teasing people, but his teasing is usually a bit mean. He loves the look on people's face when they're horrified by his actions. Izumi's fairly sadistic, but that's just the way he grew after a childhood like his. Saracasm is Izumi's favourite weapon and he will use it often. His witts surprise some people, and he's very quick on his feet, especially when arguing or being mean to somebody.
Izumi also has a soft side though. Small as it is, it's there. It takes a lot to bring it out in him, but Izumi deeply cares for his family and those he tortures that he considers friends. Izumi is actually very sensitive, taking things seriously though he may act like it doesn't phase him. Usually, he will choose not to converse with people, rathering solitude to a big group of people.
Izumi's sadism often takes form of either a child-like tease("One of my simple pleasures is to laugh when you're crushed by humiliation and rage") or a seductive lover ("I can get their attention with other things, anway... Like my looks!"). He's incredibly confident in himself and gives off a very cocky air about himself. If you can think of an obnoxious person that is constantly giving sarcastic looks and acting a bit childish in the makings, you're thinking of Izumi.
History ~
Reina and Takasho Rio seemed like a match made in heaven when they first got together. Well, that's how it seemed to Reina. Everyone told her at her wedding at the ripe age of 18 to a man that was 26 that this wouldn't work. Blinded by her young love, she ignored them all. The musician had so much raw talent, and he assured her that they would go to Broadway together. He made everything beautiful, and no matter how bad it was. When he came home late; he was dreaming of her beauty every moment he was away. When he forgot her birthday; he thought everyday was so special, he couldn't imagine anything better. Every little thing that Reina managed to forgive and forget all came back to her the day she told him what seemed to be amazing news. She told him that she was bearing his child. He told her that the news was amazing, and they spent the rest of that night coming up with names for the child. However, when Reina awoke that morning, Takasho was gone.
Nine months later, Reina gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. The birth was quick and almost painless. The baby also was very content, not crying a lot and being very pleasant. He had only one flaw -- he was the spitting image of his father. At first, Reina was sure she could handle it. She named him Izumi, but his middle name she chose Shinigami. When she put it on the papers, she claimed she was delirious with joy and didn't know what she was writing. A Shinigami, in Japanese folklore is a death god that makes sure people die at the right time. Izumi, however, never thought of it badly.
Growing up, Izumi's only desire was to please his mother. By the time he turned six, however, she was fed up with him. He would draw her pictures. His reward would be a slap in the face for drawing himself to look like his father. He sang her a song. He would get a punch to the gut for trying to be like his father. She even got him a whip for his seventh birthday as some sort of sick joke. Despite all of the pain she delivered, the boy just wanted his Mommy. Mommy, however, had different plans. Reina went out often, getting drunk and having sex with people for money since her job as an actress on Broadway never worked. She would scream at Izumi how he was a horrible burden to her and how he should work harder to be a good child.
One day she took him to a trainstation. He was nine years old. They were moving to America, since everything in Japan reminded her of Takasho. Especially Izumi, but she couldn't get rid of him. Izumi had come to the conclusion by then that the only thing that made his mother happy was him in pain. So he ran in front of a train that was about to leave. He whipped around and the last thing he remembers seeing is a smile on his mother's lips.
Ten years later, Izumi woke up from his coma. Doctors rushed in, nurses cried, and people sang songs of miracles. He'd been on a machine in America for ten years. His mother had gotten a job and new home, and every month she payed the bills to keep the machine on. She was supposedly waiting to see him at her new house. Izumi had woken up from nightmares about his mother and how no matter what he did, she couldn't give up her petty self-pity and love him. She couldn't love her own child and Izumi finally realized that he might never get any love from her. And he was okay with that. He was in perfect health, but nothing could heal his heart. His mother came in as soon as she heard and tried to apologize. He gave her the cold shoulder. She sobbed at him, trying to say how sorry she was. All that he could remember was the smile on her face as the train hit him.
When Izumi got out of the hospital, instead of going back with his mother, he used her bank account and bougth a ticket to Diznae. He told her that she was to continue her life as it is, and let Izumi use funds to keep himself in good health and get things that he needs or wants. If she didn't do as he said, he told her he would go to court for the abuse he had suffered and ruin her career. As sad as it made his mother, she agreed. Izumi moved to Diznae, an island far away from his mother in New York, and lives in luxury with whatever he wants or needs.
